WFPN RADIO NORWICH CONNECTICUT

WFPN Radio, began operations on July 27 2015 from a studio in Norwich Connecticut, with a limited amount of equipment on board.

Basically, the station started off with a Radio Shack mixing board, a single, low grade, Kenwood turntable, a Onkyo, dual cassette tape deck, a Sony reel to reel tape deck and a dual CD player/recorder deck for playing CDs.

The station acquired a subscription to a streaming service, acquired the necessary music licensing contracts and began streaming worldwide on the Internet, as an Internet based radio station.

All operations and costs were covered by the station.

The station name was originally called, "We're For the People of Norwich Radio" so it stood out to its local area, as being designated to the Norwich Connecticut community as a radio station here to serve them.

Over the years since We're For the People of Norwich Radio first began operations, the station name was often confusing to spell, for those unfamiliar with the correct spelling of Norwich. The station made a change to the station name and condensed the name to WFPN Radio and later WFPN Radio Norwich CT.

The acronym WFPN, was never to be confused with the call letters the United States governing radio frequency agency 'The Federal Communications Commission' (FCC) issues to licensed broadcast radio stations on the AM & FM radio broadcast bands.

For a while, the station changed the station name, to appease local Internet radio station rivals claiming the station was posing as an FCC licensed station with fake FCC calls.

Numerous station names were tried over the years, to appease these rival operators, when none seemed to satisfy their false claims, the station contacted the FCC and inquired with an FCC agent, if the station name was in any way, a violation of U.S. federal laws.

Upon the understanding, WFPN Radio is strictly an Internet radio station not using any broadcasting equipment to operate, the station name does not claim to be a licensed broadcast station and is not breaking any federal laws using the name WFPN Radio Norwich CT. Our station has once again, switched back to our original founding name.

Over the years, since 2015, WFPN has upgraded our stations equipment, expanded our vinyl record library, which is, 99% of where WFPN Radio's music originates from.

Our vinyl record library, now consists, of over 25,000 long play 33 1/3 RPM LPs and over 8,700 7" 45 RPM singles, around 500 CDs, 700 Compact cassette tapes, 200 8-Track tapes and 400 7" reel to reel commercial music tapes.

All the equipment was purchased and acquired to play all those media formats, as well as computers and software to keep operations running smoothly over the years.

WFPN radio has also acquired the rights, to carry and broadcast syndicated programming from well known syndicated radio programs.

We continue today, to stride to serve and focus on our listenership's best interests.

We do not operate to compete with any other broadcasters or their programming.

To this very day, WFPN Radio, still operates as a commercial free, self supporting radio station.
